VHS tapes

  • Got replaced with DVDs
  • If they got caught in the VHS player, they were incredibly hard, if not impossible to fix.

How to make VHS popular again
It'd be pretty hard to make the VHS popular again, especially with DVD's and Blu Rays, not to mention downloading. People are mainly focused on all the things they watch being in HD, so if a movie was played on VHS, the quality appears worse when played on a HD TV. However, some people are accepting towards that and want to get nostalgic about it and relive their childhood via watching movies they grew up with.

Three favourite slogans

  • What do you like about the slogan?

  • Is it easy to remember? If so, why?

  • Is there something clever about it? If so, what?

  • Does it highlight something positive about the product/company? If so, what?

  • One: Brumby's "Baked today"
    • On the ad it is said in an alien voice. It's also informative.
    • Yes, the alien voice is memorable.
    • Not really, I just like the alien voice.
    • It tells us that the food is always fresh.

    Two: Subway "Eat Fresh"
    • It's catchy.
    • It just goes together. "Subway, Eat Fresh!"
    • It's informative, it's not really witty or clever.
    • It highlights the fact that it's healthy eating on the go, unlike other fast food chains.

Three: SpecSavers "Should have gone to SpecSavers"
    • It's telling you what to do, not just gently suggesting it. So they're really pushing their business.
    • There's alliteration, so it's catchy and easy to remember.
    • The ads create situations where the character is unable to see then the voiceover says "should have gone to SpecSavers"
    • It implies that they're superior to other optical stores.
